On May 1st, Save Our Canyons and KUHL Partnered for the second Wasatch Stewardship Event of 2024. We spent the afternoon at three different locations collecting garbage.
We met at the Little Cottonwood Park and ride for a meet and greet, a safety briefing with the Forest Service, and handed out supplies. Then each group headed to their designated locations.
Two groups focused on major trailheads in the canyon and were able to clean the Park and Ride, Grit-Mill Trailhead, and Red/White Pine Trailhead. The third group was shuttled to the lower loop of Bells Canyon Reservoir to hike along the trail and collect garbage there.
Over the next two hours, KUHL's corporate team, armed with gloves and trash bags, combed through each location. In the end, nearly 100 pounds of garbage was collected. A surprisingly low amount for the time of year!
A heartfelt expression of gratitude goes out to KUHL and its dedicated team for their role in the success here. Their partnership has been pivotal in supporting the mission of Save Our Canyons.
