April 22nd marked the first Wasatch Stewardship Event of the 2024 season. Save Our Canyons in collaboration with Black Diamond Salt Lake City, hosted the event centered on a collective effort to clean up the extended Memory Grove/City Creek area, a well loved space that needed attention after the winter months. The Black Diamond staff gathered with enthusiasm, ready to make a difference by cleaning up the the beautiful space.
Throughout the multiple-hour session, volunteers, armed with gloves and trash bags, scoured the area for any litter or debris. Their dedication and determination were evident as they meticulously picked up trash and ensured no corner was left untouched.
As the event drew to a close, the results spoke volumes about the collective impact of community-driven initiatives. Nearly 350 pounds of garbage were successfully collected, a testament to the power of grassroots efforts in helping preserve our natural spaces. The success of the cleanup served as a reminder of the importance of individual actions for future generations.
A huge thank you to Black Diamond and the team for making this event possible. They have been an incredible partner through the years and helped make Save Our Canyons work.
