Save Our Canyons has significantly increased the capacity and effectiveness of our Wilderness Recreation Site Monitoring program and partnership with the Salt Lake Ranger District.
Compared to last season, in 2024 we have increased our training sessions from 2 to 5. The goal here is to bring in as many individuals and teams as possible to complete our goal of monitoring 95% of all recreation sites in our Wilderness areas. 4 of these sessions have been public, and one was private for the Patagonia SLC staff.
Our newest edition to the Recreation Site Monitoring Program has been the implementation of group monitoring sessions. We wanted to create a unique and inclusive space for people looking to give back to the Wasatch through conservation and stewardship. These group sessions have given people the chance to meet new faces in the community and get to explore what the Wasatch has to offer.
