Executive Director

Jack grew up in rural Vermont. He moved to Utah in 2008 and fell in love with its open space and community. His passion for the Wasatch comes from years of higher education, experiential learning, and thousands of days spent rambling around its nooks and crannies. In 2016, he finished his graduate work at the University of Utah in Environmental Humanities. His thesis focused on conservation of the Wasatch Range, and through that work, he worked for a summer as an intern at Save Our Canyons.

After graduating, Jack spent nine years working as the Outreach Director for the Glen Canyon Institute, advocating for a free-flowing Colorado River and protecting riparian areas in the desert. Over that time, he has continued to lean into Wasatch issues and remained passionate about a wild Wasatch. He is excited to bring his years of experience fighting for the environment to Save Our Canyons to carry the legacy and history of SOC, help build a strong coalition of wilderness advocates, and champion a new future for a healthy range.

In his free time, Jack runs a small apparel Party Shirt company; runs, bikes, climbs, and skis throughout the Wasatch and elsewhere in the West; writes essays about adventures and wildspace; and loves to visit his family’s farm where he lies in the grass and relaxes.
