Donate Today To Protect The Wasatch

Right now, we need $100,000 to keep going. To keep pushing. To deliver upon the vision of our community.

We are living in a time of unprecedented assaults on our landscapes. We've seen removal of protection for areas within Bears Ears and Grand Staircase - Escalante National Monuments. We’ve seen the “protect local control” State of Utah, roll locals on issues like the Inland Port. To think that the Wasatch Mountains are somehow exempted from this type of hanky-panky is not only naive, but dangerous. Why? Because it is happening NOW!

UDOT has allocated $66 million dollars for transportation projects in Little Cottonwood Canyon; the concept of interconnect as a transportation solution is being thrown around like Kleenex during cold and flu season and the public lands surrounding Grizzly Gulch have never been more at risk of being lost to resort development.

State politicians and out of state commercial interests see the Wasatch as a blank check waiting to be cashed as they exploit the wildness and beauty we all value. Our $350,000 budget stands up to billions of dollars, who see exploitation of the Wasatch as a way to get billions more.

I stand FOR the protection of the wasatch, I’ll donate $35, $105, $250, or more TODAY!

 The Wasatch Deserves

  • Legislation that permanently protects our watershed, public lands, wildlife, plants and community values
  • Grizzly Gulch, Patsey Marley, and Wolverine Cirque to remain undeveloped
  • Protection from threats like ski interconnect and emphasis on real transportation solutions
  • Action to mitigate the impacts of climate change, overpopulation, and crushing visitation
  • To have natural processes restored to begin rewilding of the landscape

Your Dollars Will

  • Support an increase in year-round public transportation in and out of all major canyons
  • Continue building our community to unify and strengthen our collective voice
  • Implement a Management Plan for the Central Wasatch that will put an end to ski area expansion, and design a recreation system that is in harmony with watershed and wildlife
  • Put an end to exploitation of the resource and attain a resilient future for the Wasatch
  • Promote volunteerism, educate and engage youth, and giving back to the place that gives us unparalleled quality of life

Right now, we need $100,000 to keep going. To keep pushing. To deliver upon the vision of our community. To make sure the inspiration and respite that caused Gale Dick and Alexis Kelner to found this organization nearly 50 years ago, can be found generations from now.

I value Save Our Canyons and the projects they lead, I will donate $35, $105, $250, or more TODAY!

Remember the State’s effort to remove Roadless protections for millions of acres of forested land in Utah? Fortunately, because of our engagement, the Roadless Rule and protections it affords to our watersheds and forests will stand.

Remember the Legislature’s attempt to remove Salt Lake City’s ability to manage its watersheds which our region relies upon for clean drinking water? We organized our members and killed that bill in committee, because protecting your water is part of our mission.

These are only two examples of our effective advocacy done on behalf of our community in defense of the Wasatch Mountains by Save Our Canyons. Unfortunately, threats are mounting faster than they are being resolved and your financial support will help to deliver lasting wins for the Wasatch.

I’ll never stop protecting the Wasatch mountains, i’ll donate $35, $105, $250, or more TODAY!
