A huge thank you to our community that came out to learn about and speak on the 2001 Roadless Rule. We all gathered at the Millcreek Commons Grandview Room to connect, organize, and educate ourselves with the tools to push back on bad ideas. With over 130 people in the room, it was a great showing for our forests.

At the event, Save Our Canyons moderated a panel with experts from the watershed and wildfire space, the US Forest Service, policy, and dispersed recreation. We were able to dig into the mechanisms that the Trump Administration is doing to damage public lands protections across the country, and what we can do to resist it. The high level takeaway was that today more than ever it is important to be informed with science, talk to our neighbors, and stay steadfast in our passion for wild spaces.

After the panel we heard from experts and organizations from across Utah. From the Director of Salt Lake City Public Utilities, to the Executive Director of Wasatch Backcountry Alliance, to Diné leaders and residents from Southern Utah, to ex-Forest Service staff, we had a resounding voice in the room: uphold the Roadless Rule and protect our forests.

While no one from the Trump Administration showed up, we brought our own effigy of USFS Director Tom Schultz and will be submitting all the comments to him when they open the upcoming EIS comment period on the Roadless Rule. We will also have a digital comment form available for all of you who were unable to attend.
