Cottonwood Heights Creates High Density Foothills Zone

Cottonwood Heights is moving forward with the creation of a new zoning ordinance.  On November 17th, Cottonwood Heights held a joint meeting for the City Council and Planning Commission, where they discussed the city initiated Canyon Resort Residential draft zoning ordinance.  On December 8th, the Cottonwood Heights City Council will hold a public hearing. (Update: This meeting was rescheduled for January 12, 2010). Cottonwood Heights could possibly adopt this new zoning ordinance before the end the year.  This ordinance could potentially pave the way for Terry Diehl to rezone the Tavaci property for 8 luxury condo buildings with heights of up to 50 ft. and up to 20 units per building, further expanding the development scar along the foothills.  Cottonwood Heights identifies itself as the "city between the canyons."  Those canyons are the gateway to the Wasatch, let's hope Cottonwood Heights preserves them for the treasured gems they are.

In an effort to garner support, Save Our Canyons has drafted a petition. Please take a moment to sign our petition regarding the Cottonwood Heights Foothill Zoning!
