Save Our Canyons members are invited to the Wasatch Mountain Club’s annual Halloween Party at its haunted lodge at Brighton, in Big Cottonwood Canyon, on Saturday evening, October 31, 2009.  Potluck/BYOB dinner will begin at 6:00 PM.  Rockin’ DJ Rob Snow’s awesome mix of dance music will commence at 7:30 PM and will continue as long as feet are moving.  Best costumes in the categories of greenest, scariest, sexiest and funniest will be awarded.  A $7.00 per person cover charge will be collected at the door; children are free.  If you wish to stay overnight at the lodge, there is a charge of $3.00 per person; children are free.  Additional questions can be answered by emailing the organizer, Craig Anderson, at: canders11238@yahoo.com

 

DIRECTIONS

 

Those who wish to share rides up the canyon can arrange to meet at the Big Cottonwood Canyon park& ride, located near the intersection of 7000 South (Fort Union Blvd.) and Wasatch Boulevard.  Directions to the lodge are as follows: Big Cottonwood Canyon can be reached from either direction on the belt route 215 expressway in Salt Lake City; 215 can be accessed from either expressway route 80 going east or west, or expressway route 115 going north or south, at about 6000 South, then driving towards the mountains; exit off 215 when you see the “Ski Areas” sign, or at 6200 South, following roadway toward the mountains; then turn left at light at 7000 South (Fort Union Blvd.) and Wasatch Blvd. (a 7-11 is located on right-hand opposite corner there) for highway into Big Cottonwood Canyon; follow highway to its end at Brighton Ski Resort; park in the resort’s large parking lot to the far right opposite a motel; then follow the lighted Jack-O-Lanterns up through the woods to the lodge nearby in the pine trees (the trail begins just to the right of the motel).
