Cottonwood Heights - Canyon Resort Residential Zone

In November of last year, SOC was alerted to a zone being secretly crafted for the Tavaci Development. While we, in conjunction with many passionate community members in Cottonwood Heights, were able to stop any council action on this proposal (which was scheduled for Dec 09), the city has appointed a citizen committee to look at the draft CRR zone. While this committee will be making recommendations to the city, it is not a legislative body. They have been opening their meetings to the public, however, their work sessions will not be. You can view information at the Cottonwood Heights website, under "Hot Topics ---> CRR Zone." Additional information on this issue can also be view at the CHcommunity.com website.

CHVoters is a local group organizing because of the lack of transparency and distrust with city government when it comes to development issues.  CHVoters aims to provide "the latest news that affects the voters of Cottonwood Heights."  Just recently CHVoters sent out a flier to citizens of Cottonwood Heights to point out how people are getting upset with the cities handling of the issue.  Cottonwood Heights City Council responded by disregarding the information presented in the flier as blatantly false.

Cottonwood Heights recently delayed the passing of an ordinance that would have allowed High Density Development of our foothills. Initially the public meeting, after months of behind the scenes negotiations, was scheduled for Dec. 8, 2009 but has been rescheduled for January 12, 2010. Please sign on to this petition asking Cottonwood Heights to protect our foothills and stop the development of what makes this valley special!
